We will grant you that there's nothing like a hefty 18-volt, 22-position clutch drill#151;-unless, that is, you've been hoisting it overhead for a few hours or so. Enter Barbara K and her lightweight but decidedly inot/i light-duty tools. A little history on Barbara herself sheds a lot of light on the quality of her tools: She's a single mother who heads up her own successful construction company and created a tool line just for women. Everything is smaller and lighter but just as powerful as the red, yellow, and blue ones you're used to. The thing we love about this 12-volt drill is that the battery can be worn on your belt, supplying power through a coiled cord with more than enough extension for the longest arm's reach. That takes the weight off the tool#151;and off your wrist, arm, and shoulder. The ergonomic grip is smaller than standard for a sure, comfortable hold, and with the battery on your belt, it's an absolute pleasure to use.I--Kris Jensen-Van Heste/I

Product Description
Barbara K is a single working mother. She is a woman who pioneered and achieved success in the male dominated construction industry. Through her life experiences she has developed a high degree of confidence in herself and has become self-reliant. She believes that these are traits she can pass on to other women. While others speak of empowerment, Barbara demonstrates it in everything she does, from raising her eight-year-old son, to building a successful construction company and then, having the vision, organizational skills, and motivation to create Barbara K Enterprises. Barbara K is the embodiment of the woman who leads an independent lifestyle. BR Her work in construction led Barbara to the realization that tools made for men were intimidating for women to use. This was the motivation for starting Barbara K! She designed and launched her initial product line of high quality tools, toolkits and accessories in May 2003. Since that time, Barbara K! has grown and expanded to other categories including automotive, craft and the college market. Concurrently, Barbara's message of empowerment for women who seek to lead an independent lifestyle has been communicated through her advertising and television appearances on shows such as Good Morning America, The TODAY Show, ESPN, Fox 5, CNN, Inside Edition and many more.

5 out of 5 stars A Tool You Can't Live Without!   March 5, 2009
Cinda Hill (Nantucket, MA USA)
I had heard about the Barbara K story and her products. Being a handy woman, I love the drill. It also serves as a scewdriver....so I did not need to buy the individual screwdriver. I use it constantly and my friends ask to borrow it. It is a nice size and weight and comes in a very convenient carrying case. It comes with two drill bits, so I purchse others as I need them.

1 out of 5 stars Bad company policy when things go wrong!   October 12, 2008

Don't buy this drill! Once the battery doesn't charge anymore, (mine went in less than a year) the company doesn't sell any replacement batteries. You end up being stuck with a power tool that's worthless. br /I contacted the company over and over and basically it's too bad for me! br /I loved the drill while it worked, but now I'm so sour about what they're doing I'm telling everyone. They should let you know up front that there is no replacement battery! Barbara K sucks - she should make this right!

4 out of 5 stars Great little drill!   January 8, 2008

I bought this drill for my mom, who is by no means a super-handy-woman, but she has enough projects around the house that she wanted a drill. She already had the Barbara K toolkit, which she loved, so it made sense to buy her this drill. I helped her try it out the other day, and it's very cool - intuitive to use, the battery charges pretty quickly, and the ability to take the big battery off and clip it to your belt is very nice for someone who has slightly less strength than your average drill-user. My husband, a very handy handy-man, even liked how lightweight it is, and was impressed by it's versatility and compactness. We'll see how it holds up in the long run, but it's perfect for someone who needs a drill to have around the house for those little projects.

5 out of 5 stars easy on the hands   August 16, 2007

This product has enough power for general use and is easy on the hands because the battery pack can be separate.

5 out of 5 stars Worth the buy does the job   December 27, 2006

I was bit skeptical to buy this unit since I was not sure about the performance. But my budget was $25 and this was the only unit available in the range. I decided to take a risk with the 8 positive responses and wow - this turned out to be a good drill/driver. The unit has been functioning well since the day I bought it. I do not work on any heavy drilling. This is primarily used to get my small appliances fixed, drill on doors, cabinets and for assembling the products/furniture that I buy. Only con that I would say is its a bit heavy.
