The star of this great collection, hands down, is the sander#151;-we love it. It's cordless, of course, but even better, it does the work of three separate sanders: a random orbiter, detail, and finish sander. Ingenious. Transition is fast and easy, and it's really a pleasure to use#151;-comfortable and lightweight, and excels at everything from serious stock removal to the finest detail. A close second, though, is the smart hand saw that's as simple to use as the good old-fashioned kind, just without the elbow grease, powering you through everything from wallboard and plastic to tree limbs without flinching. The drill/driver's removable chuck lets you switch quickly from drill to driver mode in a second, and when you detach the chuck, you'll find a clever ready-to-use driving bit. There's on-board storage for six more bits, too, a feature we always like. We're never happy when we have to wrestle with a battery, but these put up no fight, going on and off surprisingly easily. The stud finder and flashlight are handy to have around; the sensor has both visual and sound alerts when it detects the edge of a stud, even in a wall that's up to 3/4-inch thick. Everything fits into a nice, rugged bag for transport and storage. Bought singly, you'd pay a whole lot more than this package price, so we think this is a great deal on a dependable stable of basic tools.I--Kris Jensen-Van Heste/I

The tools fit nicely in the great bag. The saw cut off the bottom of a solid core door with no problem. The drill comes with a convienient place for the bits. The batteries are long lasting and the ease of use for the tool set is a great bonus.

The tools are well worth the price (inexpensive), but even with 18 volts, don't expect the power and durability of a 12 volt Dewalt, Milwaukee, or Hitachi comparable tool. br / br /The most concerning issue that I have about this kit is the battery system, where my first battery failed quickly, and my second battery melted in a short amount of time, fusing itself to the charger and becoming hot enough for the battery housing to melt away, exposing the cells within. Because of this and similar bad reviews regarding batteries and chargers, I will avoid any BD rechargable products. If you must purchase this kit or other BD rechargeable tools, keep an eye on the battery charger when you use it just in case of a meltdown...

Don't let other reviews turn you off on this great product. I have several Black Decker power tools and they all work great. I have always gotten respectable battery life and performance out of all of my BD tools. Black Decker also makes DeWalt tools. I can't believe anyone would think a company like BD would make and sell junk???? br / br /If you have a problem with any BD or DeWalt tools, they have service centers all over the place that will take care of your problem (search for one near you at the BD website). You don't even need a receipt as they can check the date code that is right on the tool to see if it is still under warranty - 2 years for BD Firestorm products. Buy from them with confidence knowing they are a great product for the money and BD stands behind their products.

Just trying to pass the word to the rest of the world. Anything with Firestorm on it is junk! I sold tools at Sears for three years and I never had a satisfied customer. They are cheap, they lack power, and the batteries don't last long. If you are looking at price, remember you need performance from your tools as well. Compare the stats with this and Craftsman Home Owners series, Ryobi, or Skil. These are other "cheap" tools, but they have better performance. You will pay more, but you get a tool you can use. br /I would recommend a Milwaukee, DeWalt, Makita, or Craftsman Professional. Yes, they cost a lot more, but you are getting a much better tool that will last you years, not months like the Firestorm. br /Buy a tool you will like holding in your hand, not a tool based on price.
